Locally Made Trailer for Transformational-Genre Film One Hand Clapping Also Showing
AUSTIN, Texas — Actors Erin Gray and Tim O’Connor, stars of the award-winning transformational-genre film Dreams Awake, will attend a special free screening of the film Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. at Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline, 14028 Highway 183 N. The stars and writer/director Jerry Alden Deal also will participate in a post-screening question-and-answer session, and Deal will screen the trailer for his new project, One Hand Clapping. Deal and Way To Go Media, the independent film company behind Dreams Awake, have created and launched their own crowdfunding site to raise money for the Texas-set tale of life, death and rebirth, slated to film in Central Texas in 2014. By pledging at LaunchOurFilm.com, donors will be able to participate creatively and possibly, financially.
Gray, who won two Best Actress awards for her work in the 2011 film, is renowned for her starring roles in the TV series “Silver Spoons” and “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century” — the latter also featuring O’Connor. Gray also has signed on to co-produce One Hand Clapping, expressing fascination with its metaphysical themes and an appreciation for Way To Go’s mission of providing “cinema to inspire, enlighten and uplift.” She will be available for pre-scheduled screening-date interviews.
Deal, a Sony Pictures veteran and Texas native, made his feature directing debut with Dreams Awake, which has since won 17 film festival awards worldwide, including double honors at the 2012 Worldfest Houston International Film Festival. In addition to directing One Hand Clapping from his own script, he is serving as producer.
