A little over two years ago, in April 2012, “Dreams Awake” won its first two film festival awards at Worldfest in Houston, TX. And from there it went on to win quite a few more around the world, which sent us traveling all over the place meeting all kinds of wonderful people; film festival workers, attendees, and other filmmakers.

Needless to say we have been getting invitations from many of those same film festivals to once again enter something into them. And since we didn’t yet have another film to present I did have the screenplay for the next project we were going to shoot a couple months ago, “One Hand Clapping,” but which now is on hold.

So far I have entered that script into just two festivals, and we have won an award in both of them. I have already mentioned the award we won last December in Monaco. But in April we once again won at Worldfest, a Silver Remi Screenplay Award!  We got notice of it not too long after we had decided to shelf that project for now. It was a bit bittersweet receiving that award after being bummed out that it wasn’t going into production when we had planned. But at least someone out there still believed we were worthy! That is certainly worth something.

Thanks again, Worldfest, as well as Kathleen and Hunter Todd! Maybe the good luck we got from “Dreams Awake” getting on a festival roll that started with Worldfest will hit us again. We have not given up on “One Hand Clapping,” just trying to retool and re-strategize how it will all come together.

I firmly think, feel, believe, that things happen in our universe for a reason. And if this is meant to happen, it will happen one way or another. Maybe quite different than we expect, as the universe may have other plans for us and it, on its own terms and on its own timeline.

Also, I have not yet decided if I’m going to enter the “One Hand Clapping” screenplay into another film festival. Actually I’d rather forgo all the awards, and just get this thing shot and out into the world. What do you think? …
